Happy New Year!
What a year we had, huh?
I was determined to thrive in 2018 by getting some balance.
You guys know, I planned to release books in February of last year and then decided at the last minute to halt the release because I wasn’t satisfied with them. I apologize for promising and then pulling the rug like that, but I know you will be happy that I did. The revisions have made these stories something I’m proud to bring to you (more on that in a few).
I helped my elderly parents move…next door to me. It was a lot of work, and worth every bit of it. There’s nothing better than walking next door to have a cup of coffee with your folks.
I’ve been savoring these precious years of having my kids home and watching them grow into incredible, upstanding adults. I know our time under one roof won’t last forever, so everything else comes second right now. (Proud sob.)
If you haven’t gotten any emails from me…I was so worried about complying with the new tracking laws last year that I scrapped my newsletter altogether. {I hope to create a new list very soon, but I’m not a huge emailer either. The newsletter will only come to you when I have new releases, exclusive newsletter giveaways, or special announcements.}
I was ruthless in cutting stress out of my life. I’m so relaxed now, I’m nearly Jamaican.
My Cornerstone Series and Crossed & Bared Series got new covers! If you haven’t seen them yet, you can get a look at the young adult, Cornerstone covers here and the Crossed & Bared covers here.
I’ve been playing with wigs! My hair has always been fine and I was tiring of not being able to do much with it, so I thought, why not get some hair? It’s been great fun to confuse everybody by changing my coif on the daily.
This year, the opportunities to connect with people have been extraordinary. I’ve had a rewarding speaking engagement, which I was able to honor some badass, hospital angel-warriors, and have been traveling around selling books. The enthusiasm and repeat customers shocked me and breathed new life into my writing soul.
I began a morning routine of writing, meditation, and exercise that is rejuvenating. My mind is clearer, my body feels better, and…
I’ve been writing with so. much. joy.
And 2019 promises to be a lot of fun.
On Monday, February 11th, I’ll be releasing a free novella, FORECAST. If you are a member of Band of Dystopian Authors and Fans on Facebook (and if not, you can request membership now to be available in time) join us on Sunday, February 10th for the release party! There will be all kinds of fun, extras, and giveaways!
This year, I plan to continue to continue with my routine, as well as shocking people with my ever-changing hair helmets.
You won’t have to wait long for the next book in the Cast series. You’re welcome to come on over to the Band of Dystopian Authors and Fans FB page again on Sunday, February 24th for another exciting party (!!!) to kick off CAST’s release on Monday, February 25.
I also plan to add to my new, filthy-mouth mug collection.
As for resolutions…I don’t make them, but if I did? I guess I would resolve to be cooler, calmer, and even more appreciative in the new year.
How about you? What amazing feats are you planning for 2019?
