During a recent visit as a guest speaker at a Kentucky middle school, I met several fabulous students, including young poet, Jonathan Parker Bell.
I purchased a copy of Jonathan’s debut book of poetry, Hello.
This collection is laid out similarly to Rupi Kaur’s Milk and Honey, with some pages containing only a singular, thought-provoking sentence, while other pages offer more lengthy poems.
I was especially impressed with many of these short pieces. As a novel writer, several of them struck me as intriguing and would be stunning first lines, leading into novels. Jonathan has a gift for crafting a singular thought that suggests a much broader story.
